DESCRIPTION:
Chinese, Reproduction INCLINED PLANE TIMEPIECE, the circular canister rotates as it goes down the plane, however the movement is counterweighted so it maintains a fixed position. The downward motion provides a constant force to the time train. When the clock/canister reaches the bottom, the movement will stop and the unit must be moved again to the top of the plane.
CONDITION:
unlike its French counterpart, this clock goes only for a day. This clock lived by the ocean, and the brass canister is oxidized a bit. The mahogany stand has picked up salt from the air and has a white film and is warped a bit. The sister to this sold Feb 28, 2010 by C. L. Horton for $460+10%. Width of plane = 21"
